Why did you start Fresh Start Families?
A few years ago we noticed that some of the foods we ate and products we used had a lot of extra ingredients that were negatively impacting our bodies and our lives. Whenever we chose to eat wholesome foods or looked for natural ingredients in products we felt better.
That’s when all of our research started.
We loved the benefits that came from this “holistic approach to life” and wanted to learn even more, but we also wanted to keep everything we’re learning and researching in one spot to reference later on, while also making the information available to others.
Where do you get all of your information from?
We try to get our information from multiple sources. Some topics have come from different books we’ve read, or posts we’ve seen, but we always try to cross-reference those topics with testimonials or studies we find – this way, we’re able to form our own opinion, then write about our findings and what practices have been working for us.
We’re hoping to start a book club soon so others can learn about new topics with us!
What has been the hardest part of your health journey?
The biggest challenge was convincing our husbands to join us in living a holistic lifestyle, and trying to make healthier dinners while taking in to consideration everyone’s likes and dislikes.
If you’re on this journey too, and struggling with getting your family on board, our advice to you is to stick with it. Our husbands have come around, and our kids are slowly adapting to our habits too! Changing your eating habits slowly by purchasing more organic, “healthier” choices, and eliminating the foods that you feel are most harmful to your health, will make it easier for you and your family to live a cleaner life.
How do I get started on my own health journey?
Find a balance between what you’re currently doing and what you want to do better – don’t go “all in” at first. Decide which factors are important to you, (whether it’s only drinking filtered water, or prioritizing a full night’s sleep, or eating plants at every meal) and avoid doing everything all at once. Gradually make changes on a day-to-day basis.
