There are lots of reasons why having live plants in your home can be beneficial:
- They release humidity into the air, which is great for dry skin.
- They bring feelings of calm and optimism if you find yourself constantly stressed.
- They remove carbon dioxide from the air - excess CO2 can lead to fatigue and drowsiness.
- They remove indoor air pollutants found in some everyday household items.

For most things you can try and treat symptoms with a holistic approach first.

Most medicines mask the problem rather than treat the problem.

If you can help the problem at home first, it not only saves you on a doctor visit, but you also teach your body to do what its made to do.

Not many people know about the Clean Air Study and how it "skyrocketed" the research of live plants in the home.

The study project started by NASA in 1989 researched ways to clean the air in sealed environments such as space stations.

Now we know the positive impacts plants can have in our own homes.

I know I'm not going to be perfect at these goals

I know I'm not going to be perfect at these goals every day, but I want to make an effort to try and hit them.

- 10,000 steps a day is a lot harder than I thought it would be to hit. But I know the benefits will be so worth it.

- 8-10 hours of sleep a night will help replenish my hormones. I had a baby less than a year ago and I know I need to get my hormones back on track this next year.

- 30 min of fresh air a day just feels right. I can tell a difference when I get the fresh air vs when I don't. This will also help me get a good nights rest.

- Drinking my weight in oz. of water has been top of my list for a while. I can honestly feel the difference the next day when I do/don't hit the goal.

- No screens for an hour before bed will probably be the toughest one for me. I usually sit in bed and look through my phone to relax, but I know no screen time will help me fall asleep faster.

What will be your toughest goal to hit?

Here's to a NEW YEAR!

- Eating 1 plant with every meal can help decrease aging, boost the immune system, improve gut health, and even help improve symptoms of eczema, asthma, ADHD, anxiety and so much more!

- Sweating for 30 minutes a day releases toxins and works as a natural antibiotic to help heal wounds. It can prevent colds and other infections, while also boosting energy and your mood.

- Outdoor playtime can promote better sleep (definitely want this for my kids!), enhance your mood, boost immunity and memory function. Not to mention that getting my kids outdoors for at least 2-3 hours a day will get me outside more.

- Taking a 30 second cold shower is the WORST (but best) daily habit. It will improve blood flow and reduce inflammation, and it even has anti-aging benefits.

- And finally, stretching for at least 5 minutes a day will increase flexibility, improve sleep quality and relieve stress.
